  1. Information that you provide directly

When you decide to use our service, we collect your contact details and use that personal information to respond to your message and perform normal processing/ enrollment functions of the Company. We collect the information you provide when you create an account, create or edit your profile, upload content (photographs, essays, lessons, etc.)  provide profile descriptions or comments, participate in a contest or promotion, send us an email, request customer support or otherwise communicate with us or communicate with other users through the Service.  Such information includes your name, address, password, zip code, email address, and phone number for communication purposes.  Information is submitted to the Site or Apps or via telephone or email when communication with our representative.  For students and parents, we collect information related to your documentation of and payment for tutoring sessions; tutoring questions related to homework or your studies; teacher feedback of a student; and content you upload for the purposes of transmitting it to another user or for public display on the Site or Apps. For Tutors, we collect your Social Security number or Federal Employer Identification number (FEIN) and date of birth, for tax purposes or to complete a back ground check: we also collect content you upload for purposes related to transmission to other users or public display on the Site or Apps.  As detailed in the “Where we store your personal data” section below, we use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption on any pages of the Site where we ask you to submit personally identifiable information and encrypt all such information visit another website.

If you agree, we will share your data with our partner companies so that they may offer you their products and services.

  • TutorCruncher- a software company which manage scheduling, providing communication tools including a whiteboard.
  • Stripes- a payment processor company which makes enable to use any currency.

When we process your order, it may send your data to, and also use the resulting information from, credit reference agencies to prevent fraudulent purchases.

We would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights.

Every user is entitled to the following:

  • The right to access- You have the right to request TutorZest for copies of your personal data. We may charge you a small fee for this service.
  • The right to rectification- You have the right to request TutorZest correct any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request TutorZest to complete information you believe is incomplete.
  • The right to erasure- You have the right to request that TutorZest erase your personal data, under certain conditions.
  • The right to restrict processing- You have the right to request that TutorZest restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions
  • The right to object to processing- You have the right to object to TutorZest processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
  • The right to data portability- You have the right to request that TutorZest transfer the data that we have collected to another organization, or directly to you, under certain conditions.

  1. Where we store your personal data

We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy. 

Your financial information (where applicable, for example with respect to clients, if you are a direct debit client), together with most other client and tutor personal information is stored using our secure management information system, TutorCruncher.  TutorCruncher ‘s system is hosted with Heroku on Amazon AWS, which is used globally by companies of all sizes.  The data center operation has been accredited under:

  • ISO 27001
  • SOS 1 and SOC 2/SSAE 16/ISAE 3402(Previously SAS 70 Type II)
  • PCI Level 1
  • FISMA Moderate
  • Sarbanes-Oxley(SOX)

 

To help protect your data.  This SSL uses SHA-2 256-bit encryption and a 2048-bit signing algorithm to encrypt the personal information that is submitted using More information on Heroku and AWS can be found at https:// heroky.com/policy/security and https: //aws.amazon.com/security/.  Passwords provided to our clients and tutors though TutorCruncher are hashed using PBKDF2, with a 256-bit SHA (secure hash algorithm), to ensure a high degree of data security.  If you have any questions about TutorCruncher’s security, please email them using support@tutorcruncher.com .  Tutors cannot see the personal details of the clients or students and clients cannot see the personal details of tutors.

All personal data not stored in the TutorCruncher management information system is stored using Microsoft Office 365’s OneDrive for Business secure cloud-based server, with two step verification  required to access our server and protection provided by Microsoft’s stringent security measures, which included advanced encryption of the data in transit and data at rest.

 

  1. Children’s Online Privacy Protect Act

We have no intention of collecting any personally identifiable information (such as name, address, telephone number, birth date, or e-mail address) from individuals under 13 years of age.  If a child has provided us with personally identifiable information, a parent or guardian of that child should contact us at the address indicated about if they would like this information deleted form out records.  We will use all reasonable efforts to delete the child’s information from our files as promptly as possible.

CCPA gives California residents the right to request access and deletion of certain personal information, as well as the right to opt-out of certain sharing of personal information.
